Goals of Fraser Clinical Studies
Our goal has always been that, since The Royal Columbian Hospital/Fraser Health is a leading tertiary care center, it should participate in and make an important contribution to major international clinical studies at the cutting edge of medicine.
There have been enormous advances in Cardiac Care in the last half century because of Cardiac Research and we have been involved in many of the studies that have changed the standard of care and have had a huge impact on the lives of our patients. With the growth in cardiac care we have expanded to include Electrophysiology, Cardiac Surgery and Cardiac Intervention.
History of Fraser Clinical Trials
The early years of Fraser Clinical started with one cardiologist, one study and our name was “Royal Columbian Cardiology Research”. As cardiology research expanded with more cardiologists the name changed to “Westcoast Cardiology”.
Today, Fraser Clinical Trials has over 35 years of experience, participated in hundreds of trials and continues to support Fraser Health Physicians from multiple disciplines to integrate research with their practices.
Ownership of Fraser Clinical Trials Transferred to Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation
Ownership of Fraser Clinical Trials was transferred on Dec 31, 2019 to Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation, an independent charitable organization that raises millions of dollars each year to fund major projects, priority equipment needs, facility enhancements, research, education and innovation at Royal Columbian Hospital.
Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation was established in 1978 to raise funds for the hospital’s first CT Scanner. Since then, the mission of the Foundation has been to raise money to help the hospital save lives, restore health and provide comfort to seriously injured and ill patients of all ages.
Providing Access to Health Care and Research at Royal Columbian Hospital
Thousands of individuals, businesses, community groups and foundations in surrounding communities and across the region provide generous support to help the Foundation achieve its vision — to inspire giving and grow funding so patients have access to the best in health care at Royal Columbian Hospital.
The Foundation has made research a key organizational priority, and Fraser Clinical Trials significantly increases the Foundation’s capacity to support research at Royal Columbian Hospital.
